Auto Unlock not working

Hi Emery - To answer your question… like most computer related things, the lock/app performance is going to be somewhat determined by your particular system(s). I have a lock with a bridge for wifi, and an iPhone 13mini running iOS 18.7.1 and lock firmware 02.26.0020, my app is version 3.5.6 - your mileage may vary, as the saying goes.

AutoUnlock operation has two components. First, your app has to recognise when you leave the geofence and then re-enter it. It gets that information from your phone’s GPS. If it does NOT sense both these events, autounlock is not “primed”.

Second, once primed, your phone starts looking for your lock to connect to the lock’s Bluetooth system and then send the unlock command via BT. So most of the “work” is in your phone. With lock only having to receive the unlock command over BT.

I have observed that the locks can only listen to one comm channel at a time. The BT channel will not operate if something is happening over on WiFi. Since your phone is joining your home Wi-Fi network as you approach, that can presumably stop the BT command from getting through. I put my lock on my IoT (Internet of Things) network so it doesn’t see my phone joining my regular network. You can try that.

To see if the geofence is working, at home check your AU settings page and see that the mode is “back”, then leave your geofence and look to see if it has changed to away (note, sometimes there is a delay in my phone, I guess depending on what else the phone is doing, how often the app looks for the GPS data, etc). If not, you can manually switch it. Now re-enter the geofence (not too close to home) and see if it’s switched back to “back” mode - again giving it some time. If not, manually switch it.

Put your phone on airplane mode (cell data and wifi off, BT on) and then approach your home. If autounlock doesn’t work, wait a while and then open the app and try using the app to unlock your door.

Of course, you may get the comm error message… and for that I’ve got no answer.
