I currently use a few U-Bolt Pro Wifi built in locks & can remotely connect to them no issues. I have just ordered a couple of Bolt Matter locks & notice it says to use the U Home app remotely, you must use a Wifi bridge adapter or third party Matter hub.
Can anyone explain to me how to use U Home app remotely if using a Matter hub? I have an Aqara M3 matter hub. Thank you for taking the time.
The bridge puts the lock’s control in the cloud via the internet. Matter doesn’t connect to the internet without a bridge. The app works only with BT (locally), WiFi or over cellular not Matter. Otherwise you will another bridge Matter to internet and a way to control that hub via say HomeAssistant, HomeSeer SmartThings or others, they may not talk to the app depending on the setup. The Utec bridge will.
I got my matter lock working with the wifi bridge from my old lock. Waiting for a matter dongle to arrive for my home assistant server. Hopefully I can control it through that.
thank you for your reply. You say that matter doesn’t connect to the internet without a bridge. My aqara Matter Hub M3 seems to have internet connection. Would that not let the bolt matter lock connect to the U Home app via the internet?
I know this is very late in response but I suspect in the U-Tec WiFi hub there is custom firmware directing the lock or bridge to a specifc U-Tec Cloud that’s linked to the App. Your hub is only allowing local control or remote control via Amazon or other program.. The specifc cloud address and lock credentials are not being passed via Matter. That’s my best guess, otherwise my Zwave lock which has a hub connected to the internet would show up live on the app and doesn’t
